The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a new way of providing support for Australians with a significant and permanent disability, and their families and carers. The scheme will ensure that Australians with disability will have the necessary supports they need to live an ordinary life.

The NDIS invests in people with disability early to improve their outcomes later in life, and focuses on building skills and capabilities so they can participate in the community and employment.

If you’re under 65 and have a permanent disability that stops you from doing everyday things independently, you are most likely eligible for the NDIS. It’s a good idea to read the NDIS Access Checklist to see if you might be eligible: https://www.ndis.gov.au/ndis-access-checklist.html
